Achieving the climate targets poses particular challenges for industry, since in some cases far-reaching changes to production processes must be implemented. These are associated with high time and financial expenditures, so that a consistent strategy for the implementation of these measures must be developed at an early stage.
In the FfE Workshop "Decarbonization Strategies - Methods, Exchange Opportunities and Funding Frameworks", the FfE staff presented their own experiences in the development of decarbonization strategies based upon research and practical expertise to the approximately 20 participating companies for discussion. This format provided a collaborative venue to collect and record valuable inspirations both for the participating companies as well as for future research activities of the FfE.
Furthermore, the concept of the FfE Decarbonization Network was presented, in which various relevant topics for the decarbonization of the industry are to be discussed over a period of three years. The network concept, having been demonstrated to be effective in improving energy efficiency, is seen by the participants as a valuable tool that could be applied to decarbonization efforts as well. The thematic suggestions from the circle of industry representatives were implemented by the FfE, so that the first network of this kind will soon be launched.
