CO2 assessment of the Canon Giessen CHP plant
Canon Giessen GmbH intends to have its emissions balance certified in accordance with DIN 14064-1. Within the scope of the certification, all CO2 sources and sinks of the company will be determined in order to be able to draw up an overall balance. The aim of Canon Giessen GmbH is to make its own emissions traceable in order to achieve climate neutrality in the next step.

The FfE supported Canon Giessen by scientifically preparing the CO2 balance of their combined heat and power plant (CHP). To this end, the input data received was firstly checked for plausibility and then various CO2 balance methods were applied. Since the CHP plant feeds both electricity and heat into the public grids, the choice of suitable emission factors for the displaced energy flows was of particular importance.
