Network-based heat supply is considered to have an essential role for achieving the climate targets, as it can efficiently provide heat from renewable energies and waste heat. In order to realize this potential, far-reaching, high-investment and in some cases innovative adjustments to the existing infrastructure and control systems are necessary.
In order to exchange experiences and ideas on these adaptations, various district heating network operators have joined forces in the first WärmeNetzWerk (engl.: District heating competence network).
In the article the most important phases of the network are described according to their order illustrated in figure 1.
