Climate protection strategies in companies - How differentiated emissions accounting supports in practice

Publication in BWK - Das Energie-Fachmagazin, issue 6/2020

Achieving the climate targets is technically particularly challenging for the industry sector. Therefore, long-term strategies must be drawn up, to achieve the transformation to a greenhouse gas neutral sector. The development of an implementation-oriented climate protection strategy is initially assisted by a detailed and thus comprehensible emissions balance at application level. This provides a sound basis both for identifying emission "hotspots" and for comparing the cost efficiency of various savings measures.

The step-by-step process to achieve this differentiated emissions balance and the criteria to be observed for each step are described in more detail in this publication.

An example for a differentiated emission balance is visualized in figure 1.
